Salitre restaurant is beautifully situated overlooking the sea in Cala Torret on the south east coast of Menorca.
Zoltan Polgar the chef/proprietor has arrived via London to open his first restaurant on the island. His London experience encompasses Michelin starred “Artisan” in Mayfair, the Georgian restaurant in Harrods and Brindisa Tapas in London Bridge. His last position in the capital was as executive head chef of José Pizarro’s three Spanish Restaurants.
At Salitre he combines his love of traditional Spanish flavours with his desire to use local produce to create a seasonal menu that changes frequently according to availability.
The fruit and vegetables are organically grown on a farm near Punta Prima and delivered daily. Eggs, milk and cheese are all locally produced. The charcuterie is made a few kilometres away in Trebaluger. Meats are local or Iberian. Fish is supplied from the market in Mahon. Mussels and clams are supplied directly from the harbour in Mahon. Seafood is local or Galician. Using this wonderful produce the chef has created a menu of Spanish classics. From small plates of contemporary tapas to whole grilled fish to share, there is always an ever changing choice of delicious food to try.
A children’s menu is also available.
Our wine list offers a wide choice of interesting good value wines. There is a selection of excellent wine from the Balearic Islands as well as exclusive wines from Cillar de Silos in Ribera Del Duer and organic wines.
